Why Clone Animals?
There are several reasons that scientists want to clone animals, and these include: preservation of species, biomedical research, harvesting organs for Xenotransplantation, and tastier food. Dolly the sheep is on the list of animals that have been cloned. Since then we’ve had a whole succession of animal cloning world firsts – that is the first successful birth of a cloned animal from a number of different species.
Initial attempts at artificially induced Animal Cloning were done using developing embryonic cells. The DNA nucleus was extracted from an embryonic cell and implanted into an unfertilized egg, from which the existing nucleus had already been removed.
Several governments have considered or enacted legislation to slow down, limit or ban cloning experiments outright.
