What is Cleocin Used for?

This medication is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of Cleocin and other antibacterial drugs, it should be used only to treat or prevent serious infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria. Because of the risk of colitis, before selecting Cleocin the physician should consider the nature of the infection and the suitability of less toxic alternatives (e.g. erythromycin). Cleocin should be taken with food to lessen stomach upset. Cleocin dosage differs from person to person as the severity of the problem may be less or more.
